Recorded 12/14/2015.
We read an email from listener Chris Scott, he has some interesting things to say about our Star Wars Trailer One Shot.
Seen:
We all have watched the first episode of “The Expanse” through various channels. Episode 2 will air on 12/16. We all love the books and can’t wait to see if the series get’s it right. It has the potential to be “Battlestar Galactica” good.
The “Flash/Arrow” crossover is high quality and launches the “Legends of Tomorrow“ well.
“Arrow” is all over the place. Almost terrible right now. Even Stephen Amell’s Not Ugliness isn’t saving it.
Read:
Andrew reads “Nemesis Games” FINALLY the plot gets moving
Christopher reports on “Childhood’s End”. It is Arthur C. Clarke’s masterpiece. And he wrote “2001: A Space Odyssey” so…. That’s saying something.
Patrick quizzes us on a fantasy novel he is reading. It sounds like a lot of things we have read before.
Played:
Andrew and Chris report “Destiny‘s” December Update. Sparrow Racing League and the future of “Destiny” being free to play events rather than huge DLCs.
Andrew has purchased Halo 5 Xbox On but has yet to hook it up. He has been BUSY!
Patrick is playing “Fallout 4” and streaming on Twitch. He dies a lot. It’s pretty awesome.
Episode Forty Six: Jessica Jones is good, like really good, but we don’t like her.
“Jessica Jones” is Marvel’s latest Netflix series. It’s amazing enough what we gush about it for an entire One Shot. Casting, writing, tone, themes, plotting, all are spot on. It’s a nearly flawless first season. We discuss how it fits into the larger MCU, the perfection of Kristen Ritter, the Not Ugliness of Mike Colter, and super powered sex.
Episode Forty Five: Is Andrew a true Star Wars Fan?
Recorded 11/21/2015
Discussion:
We catch up after 3 weeks of not recording. We discuss our respective Thanksgiving plans. If you weren’t sure we were brothers before, you certainly will be sure now.
Seen:
All the Boys are current on “Supergirl” We enjoy it to varying degrees. Christopher confirms his 10 year old daughter loves it. “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” has dropped on Netflix. We all make the commitment to watch the entire season before the next podcast.
Read:
Andrew is deep into “Nemesis Games”. It has a very different feel than the other “The Expanse” books but that’s not bad. He has stacks and stacks of comic books to read and is ashamed he is so far behind.
Both Christopher and Patrick have finished “The Aeronaut’s Windlass” by Jim Butcher. Both agree that the book finishes very strong. Butcher writes a very exciting last third the novel. No one has any idea how many books will be in the series.
Played:
Andrew plays more “Destiny” He needs to buy an Xbox One. He will play “Star Wars: Battlefront” and “Halo 5”. He needs to do some adult money spending first. Patrick thinks that is lame.
Christopher plays “Forza”, “Halo 5” on his Xbox One. And, of course, “Destiny”.
Patrick has played “Star Wars: Battlefront” and “Fallout 4” both on PS4 and Xbox One. He wishes “Battlefront” had more story. He cannot tell the difference in the high definition of either console.
Trivia:
In “Episode IV: A New Hope“ Luke wants to go into the Toshi Station to pick up what? (in the whiniest voice imaginable).
And what is Uncle Owen’s reply?
Episode Forty Four: The Star Wars Trailer Episode.
Recorded 10/25/2015
A unique episode. A One Shot, if you will.
“There are stories about what happened”
“It’s true, all of it.”
The final, full trailer for “The Force Awakens” debuted this past Monday during halftime of Monday Night Football. It seems like the world has been different ever since.
Our fervor for Episode VII has reached critical mass. We examine the excitement and reaction to the trailer, the surge of online ticket sales, and we unpack with sincerest love the new trailer shot by shot. We gush and we speculate and we fall in love with Star Wars all over again.
Watch it for yourselves and feel The Force flow through you.
Episode Forty Three: This Movie needs Giant Robots Punching The Ghosts.
Recorded 10-19-2015
Seen:
We have a looooonnnnngggg, in depth, and, erudite discussion on the current state of Fall television. What we like, what we wish was better, what we are slowly losing interest in and what we have already lost interest in entirely.
All have seen “Bridge of Spies” We each feel differently.
Patrick has major issues with “Crimson Peak” It’s weak. On many levels.

Andrew has consumed “Abbadon’s Gate” The Expanse is a fantastic series. He loves so many characters and wishes his favorites would return more often. Christopher teases he won’t have to wait very long.
Patrick is reading “Aeronaut’s Windlass” by pod-cast favorite Jim Butcher. It’s mostly just fun, he wishes it was great.
Christopher is reading like 29 comics books right now and “Aeronaut’s Windlass” He feels similar to Patrick.

Trivia:
In Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi is sent on a mission to hunt down General Grievous on Utapua. After an intense lightsaber dual and perilous chase, Obi-Wan manages to shoot Grievous just before the Droid General can escape.
What two word comment does Obi-Wan make after using a blaster to finally defeat Grievous?
Christopher picks “Total Recall“ as his favorite. He thinks it’s real and not a dream. Andrew and Patrick both have seen “The Martian” Christopher has not seen it yet. He will see it today. Both Andrew and Patrick think “Red Planet” is a solidly entertaining film set on Mars
Seen:
Andrew and Christopher watch “Blindspot” The main conceit of the series is dumb but the two main actors are very engaging.
Andrew reports on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” hopes they incorporate more of the Marvel comics Inhumans. Black Bolt is a great character.
Christopher watches “The Blacklist” and “Fear the Walking Dead“. He refused to disclose spoilers on the one thing Andrew cares about on that show. “Fear The Walking Dead” is awesome and fills in the time gap nicely “The Walking Dead” created with Rick’s coma.

All are excited for Season two of The Leftovers. IT BEGINS OCT 4Th!

Christopher has dived in “Marvel’s Secret Wars” by Jonathon Hickman. It has created an interesting new world to explore. Andrew is still deep in “The Expanse” books. “Abbadon’s Gate” started slow but has since punched the accelerator in the face and show no signs of letting up.
Played:
Chris and Andrew give “Destiny The Taken King” rave reviews. More content, more fun than Vanilla “Destiny”. Chris also has gotten into “Forza 6” The game creates a intense and realistic racing simulation.
Patrick mobile gaming continues with “Dungeon Quest“. He is Level 40 and 50th stage of 200 stages. He may break his own rule and spend some money on mobile gaming unlock new content.

“Supergirl” seems like it will be great girl power tv and we hope gets the vibe right. Melissa Benoist gets the Not Ugly Award.
All are excited for “Arrow“, “Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow“
We continue to lament how badly “Gotham” gets it wrong. On all levels.
Seen:
Andrew has restarted “Star Trek Voyager”. Patrick approves and agrees it has a very different vibe than other Star Trek shows.
Christopher has dived into “Longmire“ season 4 on Netflix. “Strike Back” is in it’s final season and continues to be top fun. And he is pleased both it’s leads have found gigs on NBC shows this season
Patrick actually pays money and spends time to see “Fantastic Four” It’s terrible. The movie is disjointed filmmaking. Not even solid performances can save it.
Read:
Andrew completes “Caliban’s War” in less than seven days. Chris and Andrew refrain from in depth discussion as Patrick is only half way through. Andrew has started “The Martian” and will finish it by the time the movie of the same name is released.

Recorded August 23, 2015
Discussion:
The new trailer for “The Martian“. We are very excited for this movie. Our discussion covers Ridley Scott, his long, uneven, but legendary career, the magnificent cast for this film and stellar novel the movie is based upon.
Unseen: “Fantastic Four” We might see it to have a more informed opinion
Christopher continues with “Dark Matter”. The first season is coming to a close and it’s been solid entertainment. He took his youngest daughter, Keira, to seen “Ant Man“, she loved it. Movie is surprisingly effective in emotionally connecting the viewer to the ants.
Andrew saw “Hitman: Agent 47“ and not it’s as bad as he thought it would be. Most of it doesn’t make a lot of sense though.
Patrick watched “Sinister Part 1“. Scary, like poop scared out of you scary.
Patrick watched “What We Do In the Shadows”. New Zealand brand of humor.
Read:
Andrew finishes “Leviathan Wakes” Spoilers abound! Come back in Five minutes!
Patrick purchased “Caliban’s War” on Audible, the Second book of The Expanse series, he hadn’t listened to any of it yet, but was enjoying “Ready Player One” again.
Christopher is deep in “The Player of Games”. As a gamer himself, he wishes the book was a little more detailed on how the games the main character is a master of actually work.
Played:
Andrew and Christopher play “Destiny“ and they purchase the most coveted weapon in the game, the Gjallarhorn, so fun but insanely over powered. The weapon doesn’t take a lot of skill to be good with it.
Christopher works to unlock flying in the land of Draenor in “World of Warcraft”. And of course, “Rocket League”!
Patrick plays “Castle Panic“. He feels like he has mastered the mechanics of the game after just a couple sessions, fun, but not top tier as far as table top games go.
Episode Thirty Nine: We turn our Star Wars up to 11.
Recorded 8-13-2015
Discussion:
New photos of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” released in Entertainment Weekly prompt an enthusiastic discussion. It may not be possible for us to be more excited for this movie.
Seen:
Christopher is enjoying “Dark Matter”. Solid Sci-Fi on the SyFy Channel.
“True Detective” Season 2 wraps up and is quite disappointing. Season 1 is far more effective.
All have seen “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”. All find it well made action movie fun.. Andrew and Christopher are particularly impressed with Rebecca Ferguson‘s Ilsa Faust. She every bit an equal to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.
Patrick saw “Terminator Genisys”. It is so so so bad. Patrick doesn’t want any more Terminator movies with this cast.
Read:
Patrick has listened to Book 2 of “the Dresden Files” He blasted through it in 3 days! Jim Butcher writes very well. All agree to pick up his new “Steam Punk” series starting up in a few weeks.
Andrew is deep in “Leviathan Wakes”. He just reached a massively important part of the novel and he felt something pop in his brain.
Chris reads lots of things, as is his way. In particular, he recommends “The Player of Games” by Ian M. Banks
Played:
Chris plays “Rocket League” The new DLC appears to only add to the fun. He is playing multiple matches in multiple game modes.
Andrew reports on the changes coming to “Destiny” with the DLC “The Taken King”. The leveling system is dramatically changing and we all start yelling at each other. Mostly Andrew yells at Patrick. It’s a good honest, heated discussion. It’s what we are all about.
Trivia:
Star Wars hype continues.
How many horns are on Darth Maul’s head? It’s a truly obscure question and the Boys react accordingly.
Episode Thirty Eight: Live! San Diego Comic Con and Moving Weekend Hype!
recorded July 19th, 2015.
We record at Christopher’s house in Phoenix. AZ. Patrick is in town as we help our parents move out of our childhood home.
Discussed: Christopher and Andrew report on San Diego Comic Con 2015. We detail our favorite moments from SDCC. The madness of Hall H is real. The hidden gems of the Comic Con experience and we made some friends! Shout to the VT Ladies, Brooke, Megan and Jordon!
Seen: We all saw “Ant-Man” on July 17th. We are all pleasantly surprised at how much fun the movie turned out to be. It is a superhero heist movie that plays to the strengths of it’s comedic actor lead, Paul Rudd. It very nicely sets up Phase 3 movies to come. Patrick finished “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 and he is terrified like the rest of us. The highlight of this season is Billie Piper’s character’s transformation. Just watch.
Read: Andrew is engrossed in James S.A. Covey’s “Leviathan Wakes” The Brothers will undertake to read the new DC Comics weekly, “Batman and Robin: Eternal” when it launches in October. Patrick firsts needs to finish “Batman: Eternal”.
Played: All played “Rocket League”. It’s soccer with remote control cars. It’s frenetic and fun and has perfect controls. Christopher has played many many hours. Even watching matches is fun. We all watched Patrick play an online match and were cheering and getting truly obnoxious. Real Hooliganism! Andrew reports on big changes to “Destiny” coming in September. Hopefully, it will re-balance the game play in the best ways possible.
