Ninety Eight: Almost a Milestone Episode

Episode Ninety-Eight: Almost a Milestone Episode

Recorded 10/27/2018

We record on a Saturday morning.  One of us is hung over, can you guess which?  We geek out hard on Star Trek TNG.  The nostalgia is flying around and gets everywhere.  We talk about Daredevil Season 3 and our hot takes are heated.  Andrew challenges Christopher.  Patrick is elbows deep in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game has invaded his brain.  He’s probably thinking about it right now.  Andrew is reading book 2 of The First Law Trilogy and it continues to scratch his itch for high quality fantasy fiction.  Chris anticipates one of our returning favorites comics with Montress Volume 3.  If you haven’t read Monstress Volumes 1 and 2, what have you been doing with our life?

Trivia is Batman The Animated Series themed.

Ninety Seven:Is This Thing On?

Episode Ninety-Seven: Is This Thing On?

Recorded on October 1st 2018

This episode sees the return of our nemesis, Technical Difficulties!

We soldier on and our discussion is high quality.  We examine the now proven conspiracy that is The Last Jedi Hate Cult.  We talk Netflix’s animated series The Dragon Prince.  We hoped for something more Avatar: The Last Airbender but we got something more “tropey”.  We have all finishedIron Fist and while it was a vast improvement over season 1, we lament that the series won’t just go for it and let Danny Rand be the badass we know he is capable of being.  Andrew is reading the new Robert Galbraith mystery, Lethal White.  Christopher is excited for Monstress volume 3 and Patrick continues to play lots of Overwatch.  Andrew and Chris are almost overwhelmed with the sheer number of things to do in Destiny 2: Forsaken.  No trivia question this week, Technical Difficulties wins a minor victory.

Ninety Six: We Are The Triduum!

Recorded 9/12/2018

We get political.  And, not surprisingly, it gets heated. We discuss casting news for The Witcher Netflix series and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune.  We are pleased with both.  The Brothers all watch Jack Ryan and overwhelming feel “meh” about it.  We all have watched Iron Fist Season 2 to varying degrees of completion.  Marvel’s weakest television entry has improved but not by much.  Patrick completes the long running comic series Invincible and it finishes with a satisfying ending.  Chris and Andrew have embraced new book series.  Patrick returns to Overwatch.  Chris and Andrew sell Destiny 2’s latest expansion Forsaken to a reluctant audience of one.

Trivia is The Witcher themed and Chris is successful.

Ninety Five: Break’s over, What’s Next?

Episode Ninety-Five: Break’s over, What’s Next?

Recorded 8/19/2018

Life intervened and kept us from recording a new episode for almost six weeks.  We moved, we sold houses, we went on vacation and we worked for one of the largest media companies in the world.  You will have to listen to the entire episode to learn which of us actually did these things.  The Brothers discuss Marvel’s latest triumph, Ant-Man and The Wasp.  The possibility that Mission Impossible: Fallout might be the very best of the franchise. Andrew sells Patrick on Sharp Objects.  Patrick sells No Man’s Sky to both Chris and Andrew.  Patrick and Chris avoid the addiction machine of World of Warcraft: the Battle for Azeroth.  Summer is over the kids are back in school and new episodes are on the way!

Trivia is Marvel Cinematic Universe themed and the doldrums are upon us.

Ninety Four: Segways, Both Deadly and Dramatic

Recorded 7/5/2018

It has been a month since our last recording.  We promise we weren’t avoiding you all.  Patrick was working for Netflix, Chris has been getting his Phoenix house ready for the big move to Tucson and Andrew, well Andrew, has tons of free time but a podcast of just him would be unbearable.  We catch up after our long break.  We have a truly random argument about who invented the personal transport device. We talk Incredibles 2, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, season finales of The Expanse and Westworld, Chris re-visits a science fiction classic.  Andrew doesn’t “rage quit” a particularly difficult Destiny 2 experience and Patrick is actually playing catch up to the rest of us.

Trivia is Marvel Cinematic Universe themed.  It is impossible.

Ninety Three: Weather Reports

Episode Ninety-Three:  Weather Reports

Recorded 6/3/2018

This episode brings the heat.  After a long, detailed discussion about the weather we dive deep the hottest topics since our last episode.   We talk Deadpool 2 and fresh air.  We discuss Solo A Star Wars Story and the idiotic (in our opinion) narrative about it being a “failure”.  The Brothers actually get heated at each other but with good reason.  We talk hot games, Destiny 2 and Monster Hunter World.  We give praise to Jeff Bezos for saving one of our favorite television shows, The Expanse.  Chris and Patrick discuss, briefly, the mad genius of Legion. A full season recap is in the forecast.

Trivia is Deadpool 2 themed.  Thank you to friend of the Podcast, Betsy, for the idea.

Ninety Two: The Infinity War One Shot

Episode Ninety-Two: The Infinity War One Shot

Recorded April 30 2018

18 movies and ten years have led to this moment.  And this film did not disappoint.  We spoil things, big time.  Avengers Infinity War is a huge movie, filled with our favorite but it really is Thanos’ film.  We lament that our favorite heroes don’t get enough screen time but our lamentation is salved at just how satisfying an ending this film has going for it.  We discuss its monster box office, which theories were confirmed and which of our theories were totally incorrect. Basically, we loved this movie and we hope you see it soon and tell us what you think.

Episode Ninety-One: The One Before We See Infinity War

Episode Ninety-One: The One Before We see Infinity War

Recorded April 25, 2018

This episode feels major.  Because it is.  If you are looking for a primer on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, look no further!  We discuss all 18 films.  We pick our favorites and our least favorites and some of our picks are surprising.  We don’t shy away from the missteps and we sing the praises of the unexpected triumphs of this unique experiment in film history.

We share our hopes and theories for Avengers Infinity War.  And we reconcile ourselves that  some of our favorite characters may not make it out alive. We confirm our plans to watch the new film and rest assured our next episode will be an Infinity War One Shot.

We will see you on the other side.

Ninety: The Ready Player One, One Shot

Ninety: The Ready Player One Shot

Recorded 4/10/2018

Ninety episodes and here we are.

We dissect the geek-dom extravaganza that is Ready Player One, both Spielberg’s film and Ernest Cline’s novel.  We praise Spielberg and his singular ability to craft enthralling set piece cinema and ultimately determine he may have been the wrong person to direct this movie.  The most conclusive realization the movie may have led us to is that we all want to read the book again.  Our discussion ranges from the darkest aspects of geek culture to the great heights of how human interaction has fundamentally changed in the digital age.  Also, we talk Mobile Suit Gundam vs. Mecha-Godzilla and Patrick makes the best Ghostbusters reference in the history of the Podcast.

Eighty Nine: Pilot Season for Patrick

Eighty-Nine:  Pilot Season for Patrick

Recorded 4/4/2018

After a hiatus brought on by war, famine, plague, pestilence and Pilot Season, your favorite Geeks with common parentage are back and we are exactly the same as when you last heard from us.  Patrick was off making a television pilot for ABC that his NDA precludes from talking too much about it.  Andrew and Christopher were adulting to varying degrees of success.  But we return and we talk Kaiju and Jaegers.  We talk Magicians and Monsters.  We talk Avengers and Jokers and Jedi.  Some of us have left mainstays behind (Chris and Andrew are staring directly at you, CW shows).  More and more Monster Hunt World praise.  Chris says it’s hard.  We believe him.

Trivia is Fortnite themed.  If you don’t know what Fornite is, ask a 12-year-old, They are all playing, Seriously ALL of them.
